Ethiopian Sun

Ingredients

  • 2.5 oz Belle Isle Honey Habenaro Moonshine
  • 1 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
  • 0.5 oz Hot Pepper Infused Honey
  • 0.5 oz Ethiopian Blend Coffee
  • Top with Sparkling Water or Club Soda
  • Lime or Grapefruit Slice for Garnish

Instructions

There is common saying amoung Ethiopians, refered to mostly at reunions or weddings, that goes:

"Love and coffee are the two things in this world, that must ALWAYS be served hot"

Thinking of that phrase, I can't help but to smirk to myself and wonder what my Ayat (grandfather) would think of this cocktail. I imagine that he would make an exception to the rule, if only to savor this refreshing tribute to the East African pallet.

In a shaker, combine the Belle Isle Honey Habenaro Moonshine, Grapefruit juice (fresh squeezed if possible),  and Hot Pepper Infused Honey (I like mine really spicy, but you can alter the spice level if you do your infusions yourself)

Add ice, and shake until the shaker is cold to the touch.

Strain your mix into a rocks glass, with just a few ice cubes.

Add freshly brewed and filtered Ethiopian Blend coffee to the glass, and top with sparkling water.

Raise your glass to the sun, and ENJOY!
